Mike G. Molyneux,

President & CEO

Before establishing SymboCor, Mike Molyneux co-founded and successfully led TMS,

one of the largest rehabilitation outpatient clinic contract companies in the country. TMS owned and operated 76 freestanding and provider-based clinics and multi-specialty group medical facilities across 16 states with 1,700 employees.

Mike has built a career in health and wellness, leveraging his extensive experience to develop the customer-centric model used by SymboCor. Its on-site clinics employ data-driven health strategies to improve outcomes, ensure patients receive high-quality care, and ultimately reduce downstream costs.

 

Richard Mazey, M.D.

Chief Medical Officer

Dr. Richard Michael Mazey is a distinguished physician with over four decades of experience

in nephrology and internal medicine. Born in New Albany, Indiana, Dr. Mazey has dedicated his career to advancing the field of nephrology and improving patient care within both clinical and academic settings.

Dr. Mazey earned his AB in Biology from Washington University in St. Louis in 1969 and his MD from the University of Kentucky College of Medicine in 1974. He completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Alabama, Birmingham, where he was recognized with a scientific award for the most outstanding publication by a house officer. During his medical school experience, he was selected to receive a grant to study nephrology at the University of Hawaii and later served as a Post-Doctoral Trainee in the Renal Division at Washington University.

Throughout his career, Dr. Mazey has held numerous academic appointments, including serving as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the University of South Alabama College of Medicine for nearly three decades. He is board-certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and has been a prominent figure in the medical community, holding leadership roles such as President Emeritus of Nephrology Associates of Mobile and Medical Director Emeritus of Fresenius Medical Care.

Dr. Mazey’s extensive work experience includes his role as Chief Medical Officer for several organizations, including Physicians’ Health & Wellness, Symbol Health Solutions, and now SymboCor Correctional Healthcare. His expertise in nephrology, coupled with his leadership in dialysis units and quality management, has made him a key player in the advancement of healthcare services, particularly in correctional facilities. SymboCor is the first correctional facility in the State of Alabama to implement renal dialysis services.

In addition to his clinical and leadership roles, Dr. Mazey has contributed to the field through numerous publications and research studies, focusing on topics such as anemia management in chronic kidney disease and the prevention of contrast-induced nephropathy. His work has been recognized with various honors, including a Primary Care Recognition Award from the Department of Physician Assistant Studies in 2017.

At SymboCor Correctional Healthcare, Dr. Mazey continues to leverage his vast experience and passion for patient care to lead and innovate in the delivery of medical services within correctional facilities, ensuring the highest standards of care for inmates and reducing the need for external hospital visits.

Dr. Jason Lockette, MD,

Medical Director, MBA

Dr. Jason Lockette is a seasoned physician leader who brings

over two decades of clinical practice and leadership experience to SymboCor. With an impressive background in physician practice management, hospital operations, and healthcare integration, Dr. Lockette has consistently demonstrated his ability to enhance healthcare delivery and improve patient outcomes. His clinical expertise spans emergency medicine to specialized training in ear, nose, and throat surgery, showcasing his versatility and dedication to patient care in both hospital-based and private practice settings.

At SymboCor, Dr. Lockette serves as the Medical Director for the Jefferson County Jail, where he oversees the healthcare of over 1200 inmates across multiple sites. His leadership in this role reflects his commitment to providing high-quality medical care in challenging environments, ensuring that all patients receive the attention and treatment they need. His experience in managing complex healthcare systems, including ambulatory surgery centers and emergency departments, equips him with the skills necessary to navigate and enhance SymboCor’s healthcare operations.

Dr. Lockette’s career is marked by significant achievements, including the co-founding and growth of Integrity Family Care into the largest provider of adult primary care in the Huntsville Madison area. His innovative approach led to the introduction of AI-based software for acute condition management, reflecting his forward-thinking mindset and dedication to leveraging technology to improve healthcare outcomes. His roles as Medical Director at various healthcare facilities further underline his expertise in managing large-scale operations and his ability to lead diverse teams effectively.

In addition to his clinical and operational expertise, Dr. Lockette has been actively involved in clinical research, contributing to numerous studies focused on non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) and liver-related outcomes. His research experience adds a valuable dimension to his role at SymboCor, as it underscores his commitment to advancing medical knowledge and improving patient care through evidence-based practices.

Dr. Lockette’s educational background includes a Doctor of Medicine from the University of South Alabama College of Medicine and a Master of Business Administration from Vanderbilt University’s Owen Graduate School of Management. This combination of medical and business education has equipped him with a unique perspective on healthcare management, enabling him to effectively bridge the gap between clinical practice and healthcare administration.

Michael Molyneux, Jr.

Vice President, Client Operations

As the Vice President of Client Operations, Michael brings over a decade of experience in health

administration, with expertise spanning every facet of employer-sponsored clinics, including business development, clinic implementations, and seamless, efficient clinic transitions and operations.

At Symbol Health Solutions, Michael has successfully spearheaded the establishment of dozens of employer-sponsored health centers since 2014. His commitment to customer satisfaction is unparalleled, demonstrated by his proactive approach in maintaining regular communication with C-suite executives. He and his team provide ongoing support, reporting and analytics, education, and guidance on matters related to customer service, ensuring that every client’s needs are met with excellence. Renowned for his exceptional troubleshooting skills, Michael diligently addresses any challenges that arise, using his expertise to find effective solutions promptly

Michael’s extensive knowledge and unwavering dedication to delivering outstanding service, along with his ability to forge strong relationships and his comprehensive understanding of employer-sponsored health clinics, make him an invaluable member of the Symbol Health executive team.

In 2023, Michael expanded his expertise to the correctional healthcare space with the establishment of SymboCor Correctional Healthcare. As a strategic and results-driven leader with a deep understanding of client relationship management, operational excellence, and business growth, Michael has extensive experience in overseeing client-facing teams and optimizing client satisfaction, retention, and profitability at SymboCor. His ultimate goal is to deliver exceptional value to clients, ensuring sustainable growth and a competitive edge for the organization.

Jessica Bruer

Vice President, Operations and Personnel Strategy

As the Vice President of Operations and Personnel, Jessica Bruer brings over a decade

of experience in the employer-sponsored clinic industry. Jessica plays a pivotal role in planning, directing, and coordinating operations to enhance productivity and efficiency across the organization.

Jessica and her team are responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring company policies, procedures, and processes that ensure smooth and effective operations. She collaborates closely with the Chief Medical Officer to manage and supervise all department managers, ensuring alignment with the company’s strategic goals. Additionally, Jessica oversees all aspects of recruiting, staffing, and credentialing, ensuring that the organization attracts and retains top talent.

In her role, Jessica also acts as the liaison to SymboCor’s partnered Professional Employer Organization (PEO), managing payroll, benefits packages, and other HR functions. Known as the “go-to” person for both SymboCor and Symbol Health Solutions team members, Jessica is dedicated to supporting her colleagues and fostering a positive and productive work environment. Her leadership in operations and personnel management is integral to the continued success and business growth.

Meagan Cain

Vice President of Finance

As the Vice President of Accounting, Meagan plays a crucial role in overseeing

the financial integrity and strategic financial planning of the organization. With a strong background in the health and wellness industry, Meagan brings a wealth of experience and expertise in accounting and financial management.

Meagan holds a Master of Business Administration from The University of West Alabama and a Bachelor of Science in Commerce and Business Administration with a focus on Accounting from The University of Alabama. Her professional skill set includes cost accounting, financial accounting, data analytics, and proficiency in tools such as Microsoft Excel, Tableau, Oracle NetSuite, and inventory control.

At SymboCor, Meagan leads a dedicated team in compiling and analyzing both financial and clinical information to ensure accurate transaction recording and reporting. She is responsible for designing, modifying, installing, and maintaining accounting and data analytics systems that provide clear and accurate recognition of financial and clinical transactions.

Meagan’s leadership in accounting is essential to the company’s financial health, guiding the organization through complex financial landscapes with precision and insight. Her ability to translate financial data into actionable business strategies makes her an invaluable asset to the executive team, ensuring that Symbol Health Solutions remains financially robust and well-positioned for future growth.

Jason Ballenger, RN

Health Services Administrator

Jason possesses over eighteen years of extensive nursing experience. Transitioning

from critical care to correctional healthcare, he commenced his correctional healthcare career in 2007 at the Jefferson County Jail as an Intake Nurse. Throughout his tenure, he advanced to the role of regional nurse manager, a position he held until 2020. In 2020, Jason assumed the responsibilities of the Health Service Administrator of the Jefferson County Jail. He is dedicated to fostering a conducive environment for staff to deliver superior correctional healthcare services to inmates while strictly adhering to NCCHC guidelines. In September 2023, Jason joined the SymboCor team, bringing with him a wealth of experience. His commitment lies in delivering exceptional customer service by cultivating and nurturing robust interpersonal relationships with clients and patients.
