Clinician-Driven Correctional Healthcare
SymboCor is a correctional healthcare company founded and led by a clinician with over 40 years of experience. Unlike many in the industry, SymboCor is managed by healthcare professionals rather than investors, ensuring that our decisions prioritize the well-being of inmates, the needs of sheriffs, and the interests of city and county taxpayers.

Key Capabilities
SymboCor’s Care Containment approach focuses on delivering proactive, comprehensive, and coordinated healthcare to prevent the escalation of medical conditions and reduce unnecessary hospital visits. By emphasizing proactive health monitoring, effective chronic disease management, telemedicine services, and preventive care programs, we aim to enhance patient outcomes while minimizing healthcare costs. Our integrated care coordination, medication management, and health education empower patients to take control of their health, ensuring efficient and effective care that promotes overall well-being and sustainability within the healthcare system.
We utilize Electronic Medical Records (EMRs) to enhance patient care, improve outcomes, and ensure accurate documentation. Our system includes corrections-specific health records, off-site medical scheduling, and integration with jail information management systems for seamless coordination.
We conduct Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) through quarterly reviews by each provider in collaboration with the Medical Director and regular meetings with jail administration. All medical services are designed to meet NCCHC standards, ensuring the highest level of care.
Our cost-containment strategies focus on reducing deputy manhours and improving patient care through effective risk management, leading to fewer adverse outcomes and decreased litigation. We also customize inmate health service programs to meet the specific needs of each facility.
Bringing ER capabilities onsite, including a CLIA-certified moderate complexity lab, significantly reduces unnecessary and costly offsite visits. This approach ensures safety and has reduced ER visits by approximately 60%.
Regular check-ups and continuous health monitoring to detect and address potential issues early.
Our process ensures inmates receive timely access to specialist care when needed, eliminating unnecessary delays.
We utilize community resources by partnering with local health departments, HIV care providers, and specialty medication vendors. Additionally, we offer health education to inmates, empowering them with knowledge to manage their health and well-being.
Testimonials
“Being in jail is stressful; I have enough to worry about. I like being able to receive
dialysis in a quiet, relaxing environment. I don’t have to worry about being seen in the
community wearing these strips like I used to when they would have to take me offsite.”
